“Red Square handled the entire process with ease.”

Our clients were keen to expand their beautiful Victorian property in West London and create a home with contemporary features that would sit in harmony with the traditional character of the house.

Red Square was appointed to create this additional space by means of a rear extension and new basement level with direct access to the garden.

The upper floors were designed to provide luxurious living space via an elegant cantilevered staircase. A rectangular glass window in the side wall elevation, spanning ground to 2nd floor levels, enables natural light to illuminate the stairwell.

An opening had to be made in the side brick wall to crane in the staircase glass panels with a clearance of just 2mm. Every project has its own technical design challenges, making our work interesting and gratifying when we achieve truly unique end results for our clients.

  • Inspired by John Pawson, with hand selected limestone hewn slabs, to complement smoked storage wall veneers, tying in with the bespoke coffee and dining tables. Baccarat Crystal lampshades complement a set of the clients fluted Baccarat wine and champagne glasses.

  • A perfect structure in an imperfect space. 2mm tolerance to fit this stair case within a Victorian house, chemically bonded stone to a cantilevered steel structure with large sheets of optically corrected glass.
